Step 7:  Find Your Home

You are comfortable with your financing, you have a general idea of what you are looking for, you've figured out who, if anyone, will help you find your next home, and you have found some neighborhoods you like.  Now it's time to see some homes up close and personal.

Buyers, especially first time buyers, often fall in love with the first homes they see. This is not always the best approach; an objective review is your best defense against choosing a sub-optimal home.

The document below discusses the different kinds of homes you might consider, where to find them, the kinds of questions to ask about homes and their neighborhoods, and how to make a brief home visit memorable for you.  The final section of the document talks about seller disclosures and how they can help you ascertain the soundness of your potential purchase.
